Growing up with a love of sport, Claremont resident Ava Rodgers will be representing WA at the 2025 National Junior Track Cycling Championships in Brisbane, with support from the Town’s Youth Funding Program.
After testing her cycling, rowing and kayaking skills through a Western Australia Institute of Sport (WAIS) talent identification program, Ava decided to grow her cycling skills.
“I wanted to improve my cycling leg in triathlon as it used to be my weakest leg,” Ava said.

Atta president Steve Oates said the Association dropped its player injury insurance this year after the premium increased from $2,000 a year to $18,000 annually.
Ava’s mum said, “Every effort must be made to ensure sport remained affordable and accessible to all children.
Sport teaches our kids about teamwork, resilience, perseverance and grit.
We are so fortunate that sport is embedded in Aussie culture. We need to make sure this continues.”
